Leisure activities

The Rhône delta offers a range of possibilities for tourism, many of them related to exploring nature. A number of centres have exhibitions, and there are walks, some of which provide possibilities for observing wildlife. Such encounters can be quite moving experiences.
The coastal beaches receive large numbers of visitors during the summer season.
The architectural heritage of the Camargue is primarily centred on towns such as Arles, Saint-Gilles, Aigues-Mortes and Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
There is no lack of festivals in the delta, with celebrations of the Gardians' traditions (in Arles), the Gypsies (in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer), the fishermen (in Grau-du-Roi), and the music of the south (in Arles). You can find out more about these festivals in our "Events" or "News"section.
