The Camargue is home to a fund of traditional knowledge about breeding bulls (the "bouvine"), and training them for participation in sporting activities.
The Camargue bull has for long been associated with games, and in particular the "Course camarguaise", otherwise known as the "Cocarde" (rosette) competition, where the objective is to carry off rosettes (as well as strings and tassels) that are attached between the bull's horns. This popular game requires the selection of vigorous animals that are capable of progressively acquiring experience in the arena. And in fact the best ones can become real "stars".
